James + Casi Proposal // Copain Winery // Healdsburg, CA

James contacted me a couple of weeks before he planned to propose to his girlfriend Casi at Copain Winery. I was so impressed with James’s communication with me and thought out plan he had for the whole weekend. He filled me in that he would propose at a winery in Healdsburg (at the time he wasn’t sure which one but eventually settled on Copain Winery because of its miraculous views!) Then they’d get lunch at their favorite lunch spot and enjoy the rest of the night at a beautiful Geyserville Inn.
Unfortunately, the Sunday before the proposal most of Sonoma County but specifically Geyserville, Windsor & Healdsburg were evacuated due to one of our biggest wildfires. The Kincade fire broke out a couple days before but with the dry heat and record wind speeds the fire became a threat to multiple cities and towns. James and I chatted about a back up plan but my I felt so helpless as I knew he had his heart set on Wine Country as it was their favorite get away together. We both decided that Marin would be the next best area and he booked a new get away for Carmel but it wasn’t until THE DAY BEFORE the proposal that we found out that we would be able to still go to Copain and I’m SO GLAD WE DID!!!!
It was truly beautiful! Casi said she had her suspicions as she was expecting a proposal from him in the near future but with the help of her friends they totally threw her off! She mentioned to me that her best friend begged her to come to a dinner she was hosting that night and was so upset that she couldn’t come. Even her family was in on it and all kept it a big secret and made it seem like they wouldn’t be around that weekend but in reality they planned a big family brunch for the next morning! I just LOVE surprise proposals and James did an amazing job! Congratulations Casi + James – it was so beautiful and thank you for letting me capture it all!
